About AI Lab

Welcome to the Artificial Intelligence Research Laboratory in the College of Informations Sciences and Technology at Penn State University. The laboratory was founded in 1990 by Vasant Honavar in Department of Computer Science at Iowa State University. The laboratory moved to Pennsylvania State University in September 2013

Members of the laboratory conduct research in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data mining, information integration, and semantic web as well as applications in bioinformatics, engineering informatics, cheminformatics, materials informatics, social informatics, and related areas.

The laboratory's research is funded in part by grants from the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, the US Department of Agriculture, and the Edward Frymoyer Chair in Information Sciences and Technology held by Vasant Honavar, the College of Information Sciences and Technology, the Institute for Cyberscience, and the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences at Pennsylvania State University.

Additional information about current projects in the Artificial Intelligence Research Laboratory can be found on the projects and publications pages.
